RESUMO O trabalho teve o objetivo de avaliar o comportamento da espécieSchizolobium parahyba var. amazonicum(Huber ex Ducke) Barneby (paricá) de diferentes idades e sistemas de cultivo no município de Aurora do Pará (PA - Brasil). O experimento foi conduzido no campo experimental Tramontina Belém S.A (2°10'00"S; 47°32'00"W), seguindo o delineamento estatístico inteiramente ao acaso com parcelas subdivididas. Foram selecionadas seis plantações florestais de paricá: 1 - Sistema agroflorestal de paricá + curauá (Ananas comosus var.erectifolius) (SAFpc); 2 - monocultivo de paricá (MONp); 3 - Sistema agroflorestal paricá, freijó (Cordia goeldiana Huber) e curauá (SAFpfc); 4 - Consórcio paricá e freijó (CONpf); 5 - Sistema agroflorestal paricá, mogno (Switenia macrophylla King), freijó e curauá (SAFpmfc); e 6 - Consórcio paricá, mogno e+ freijó (CONpmf). O tamanho da parcela foi de 18 x 24 m com quatro repetições por tratamento, perfazendo um total de 28 parcelas e 10.368 m2 de área experimental. As variáveis obtidas para inferir sobre crescimento do paricá foram altura (H) e diâmetro a altura do peito (DAP) e, a partir delas, foram calculados Incrementos Médios Anuais em DAP (IMAdap) e H (IMAalt) e o volume (V). Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e as médias comparadas através do teste SNK a 95% de probabilidade. Os resultados indicaram que o Paricá quando associado ao Curauá apresentou resultados estatisticamente superiores de incremento em altura e diâmetro a altura do peito e volume, quando comparados com os tratamentos da mesma idade na ausência da espécie agrícola.

ABSTRACT This work aimed to study the behavior of the species Schizolobium parahyba var. amazonicum (Huber ex Ducke) Barneby (In the Portuguese language 'Paricá') at different ages and cultivation systems in Aurora do Pará (Pará state, Brazil). The experiment was carried out in the experimental territory of 'Tramontina Belém S.A. company' (2°10'00"s; 47°32'00"w), using a thoroughly random statistical outline with subdivided plots. There were selected six plantation forests of Paricá: 1- agroforestry system of Paricá and Curauá (Ananas comosus var.erectifolius) (SAFpc); 2- monoespecific plantation of Paricá (MONp); 3- agroforestry system with Paricá, freijo (Cordia goeldiana) and curauá (SAFpfc); 4- consortium of Paricá and Freijó (CONpf); 5- agroforestry system with Paricá, Freijo, Mogno and Curaua (SAFpfmc); 6- Consortium of Paricá, Magno and Freijo (CONpmf). The plot size was 18m x 24m with four repetitions per treatment, amounting for 28 plots and 10.368 m2 of experimental area. The numbers used as reference to evaluate the growth of Paricá were height (H) and breast height diameter (DAP). Based on those values the average increments per year were calculated in DAP (IMAdap), H (IMAalt) and volume (V); The data was submitted a Variance Analysis and the average compared through Student Newman Keuls test (SNK), at 95% probability level. The results showed that Paricá and Curaua, if associated, presented statistically higher numbers in height and diameter at breast height, increment and volume, if compared to same age treatments in the absence of the agricultural species.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi testar a aplicação de modelos da geoestatística para estimar o volume de resíduos lenhosos de madeira em uma área de floresta manejada no município de Paragominas, estado do Pará. Os métodos de Warren e Olsen e da Krigagem Ordinária foram utilizados para estimar o volume dos resíduos florestais em pontos amostrados e não amostrados. Os resultados confirmam que a aplicação dos métodos foi adequada, uma vez que a estimativa para o volume dos resíduos, da área em estudo, apresentou uma pequena diferença 5,2%, em relação ao valor real obtido.

The objective of this paper was to test the application of geo-statistical models to estimate the volume of wood timber residues in a forest area managed in Paragominas, state of Pará. The Warren and Olsen's and Ordinary Kriging methods were used to estimate the volume of forest residues in sampled and not sampled points. The results confirm that the applied methods were appropriate, given that the estimates for the volume of wood timber residues, in the area of study, showed a small difference of 5.2%, when compared to the actual value obtained.

Neste trabalho, objetivou-se estudar o comportamento da distribuição dos diâmetros das peças de resíduos lenhosos encontrados no chão da floresta (e.g galhos de árvores, troncos sãos e ocados, aparas de toras) em área de floresta explorada e em área com um ano após a exploração florestal, utilizando-se técnicas de redução de impactos (EIR), ajustando-se um modelo matemático. Os diâmetros das peças de resíduos foram coletados no campo mediante o levantamento de 48 unidades de amostra, distribuídas, sistematicamente, na área, sendo 24 unidades em cada situação de floresta não explorada (FNE) e floresta explorada (FE), com erro de amostragem para a variável volume (m³.ha-1) de 8,32 % e 7,58 % respectivamente, aplicando-se o método de amostragem por linhas interceptadoras (Line Intercept Sampling), proposto por Wagner (1968). A distribuição dos diâmetros dessas peças de resíduos encontrada nas duas situações levantadas foi decrescente e em forma de "J" invertido, semelhante à distribuição dos DAP das árvores em florestas nativas da Amazônia. Existe correlação linear altamente significativa entre os centros de classe e o número de peças de resíduos, sendo essas ajustadas pelo modelo exponencial proposto por Meyer (1952), cujos coeficientes de determinação ajustado (r²aj.) encontrados foram de 98,6 % e 94,8 %, para floresta não explorada e floresta explorada, respectivamente.

This study aimed to investigate the patterns of diameter distribution of residual wood pieces found on the forest ground (e.g. tree branches, sound and hollowed trunks, log trimmings) of an unlogged and of a logged forest area one year after logging operations with impact reduction techniques (EIR), by setting up a mathematical model. Diameters were field measured of wood residue pieces in 48 sampling units systematically distributed across the experimental area, 24 units for each situation, that is, unlogged (FNE) and logged forest (FE), with sampling errors of 8.32% and 7.58% respectively for the variable volume (m³.ha-1), applying the line intercept sampling method proposed by Wagner (1968). In both situations, the diameter distribution of the wood residue pieces was decreasing and reverse J-shaped, similarly to the DBH distribution occurring in native forests of the Amazon. A highly significant linear correlation exists between the diameter class midpoints and the number of wood residue pieces. Distributions were modeled using the exponential equation proposed by Meyer (1952), whose adjusted coefficients of determination (r²aj.) were 98.6% and 94.8%, for unlogged and logged forest areas respectively.

O objetivo do trabalho foi determinar o tamanho adequado de amostra para estimar o volume de fustes de espécies florestais de uma população de árvores a serem cortadas no sistema de manejo florestal da empresa Cikel Brasil Verde Madeiras - Pará. Utilizaram-se as metodologias da amostragem sistemática e do estimador geoestatístico da krigagem ordinária com simulação sequencial, respectivamente para a escolha das amostras e estimação dos volumes dos fustes das árvores. Os resultados mostraram que os métodos podem ser utilizados no cálculo dos volumes de fustes de árvores. Entretanto, o método da krigagem apresenta um efeito de suavização, tendo como conseqüência uma subestimação dos volumes calculados. Neste caso, um fator de correção foi aplicado para minimizar o efeito da suavização. A simulação sequencial indicativa apresentou resultados mais precisos em relação à krigagem, uma vez que tal método apresentou algumas vantagens, tal como a não exigência de amostras com distribuições normais e ausência de efeito de suavização, característico dos métodos de interpolação.

The objective of this study was to determine the appropriate size sample to estimate the stem volumes stems of tree species from a population of trees to be cut in the forest management system of the timber company Cikel Brasil Verde Madeiras - Pará State, Brazil. The methodologies of systematic sampling and geostatistical kriging with sequential simulation were used, respectively, for the choice of samples and estimation of stem volumes of trees. The results showed that the methods can be used to calculate the stem volumes of trees. However, the kriging method has a smoothing effect, which resulted in an underestimation of the volumes. In such case, a correction factor was applied to minimize the effect of smoothing. The sequential simulation indicative presented more accurate results compared to kriging, since this method has certain advantages over kriging, such as not requiring samples with normal distributions and no smoothing effect characteristic of the interpolation methods.

RESUMO No estado do Rio Grande do Sul, as florestas ripárias se encontram alteradas pela ação antrópica formando fragmentos. O estudo teve como objetivo analisar a estrutura e florística interna dessas florestas o que subsidiará informações para o restabelecimento desses ecossistemas. A área escolhida foi um fragmento (30o04’36”S; 52o53’09”W), de 4 ha, localizada no município de Cachoeira do Sul, RS, no Baixo Rio Jacuí. As espécies arbóreas, arbustivas e lianas (somente quanto à forma de vida) foram inventariadas, utilizando-se faixas perpendiculares ao rio, distanciadas por 50 m, as quais apresentaram 10 m de largura e comprimento que variou com a largura da floresta. As faixas foram divididas em unidades amostrais de 10 x 10 m, nos quais foram identificados indivíduos com circunferência a 1,3m (CAP) ≥15 cm, registrados os valores de circunferência e altura. Os dados de densidade por espécie formaram uma matriz (70x42) utilizada na análise multivariada. A presença de agrupamentos de espécies no interior do fragmento foi avaliada pelo TWINSPAN (Two-way indicator species analysis), com base no qual foi constatada a existência de três subformações florestais (S-F1, S-F2 e S-F3). A S-F1 foi caracterizada por ter maior influência das enchentes e lençol freático mais próximo da superfície; a S-F2 ocorreu na parte central do fragmento, mas apresentou forte influência dos extravasamentos causados pelas enchentes; e na S-F3, também na porção central, ocorreu maior influência do lençol freático. As espécies indicadoras das subformações foram: Sebastiania commersoniana e Eugenia uniflora (S-F1); Gymnanthes concolor, Cupania vernalis e Seguieria aculeata (S-F2); e Casearia sylvestris e Allophylus edulis (S-F3). Portanto, em projetos de preservação, conservação e restabelecimento desses ecossistemas, a comunidade florestal não pode ser tratada unicamente como ripária, mas considerando as variações ambientais e, conseqüentemente, florísticas.

ABSTRACT In the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the riparian forests have been altered and fragmented by human activity. The objective of this study was to analyze the structure and floristic composition of these forests, therefore providing information for the re-establishment of these ecosystems. The study site is a 4 ha fragment located in Cachoeira do Sul- RS, low Jacuí River (30o04’36”S; 52o53’09”W). The arboreal and shrubby species and lianas (only life-form) were inventoried using 10 m wide strips that were laid out perpendicular to the river and spaced at 50 m intervals. The strips were divided into 10 x 10 m plots. Within each plot all a individuals with girth at breast height - SBH ≥ 15 were identified and their circumference and height measured. Species density data were entered into a matrix (70 x 42) that was used for multivariate analysis. The presence of species clusters at the interior of the fragment was analysed with TWINSPAN (Two-way indicator species analysis), which identified the existence of three forest sub-formations (S-F1, S-F2 e S-F3). S- F1 was characterized by a higher influence of flooding and the ground water table was closer to the surface; SF2 occurred in the central part of the fragment, but presented a strong influence of flooding provided by inundation; and S-F3, also in the central part of the fragment, occurred the greatest influence from the ground water table. The indicator species of the three forest sub formations were Sebastiania commersoniana and Eugenia uniflora (S-F1); Gymnanthes concolor, Cupania vernalis and Seguieria aculeata (S-F2); and Casearia sylvestris and Allophylus edulis (S-F3). Therefore, in preservation projects, conservation and reestablishment of these ecosystems, the forest community cannot be treated as riparian only, but environmental and, consequently, floristics variations should be considered.
